All the time, whenever pastors get caught in a sex scandal or leaders in the church get caught in some terrible sin or something like that, it's really easy to just jump on the hate train and ride it all the way back to the station. I mean, they are supposed to be leaders!!!!! How DARE they mess up!? I've never done anything stupid before. I've never lied or covered the truth. I've never thought about women in a lustful manner. I've never done ANYTHING to disappoint God's people and more importantly God Himself!
Oh......wait.......I've done all those things and so has everyone else and on a semi-regular basis. All of us who are pretty much sitting on the sidelines of this monumental spiritual battle of good vs. evil (God vs. Satan) love to hate when one of our higher-ups gets slammed by Satan. We get mad at THEM, like it is THEIR fault. We act like we have been praying for their protection (which the Lord Himself calls us to do) on a regular basis and have done our part. Honestly, how many of you can tell me that you have prayed for your pastor or Bible study leader or favorite Christian celebrity even? I'll be real with you guys, I pray for the Jonas brothers from time to time....as well as a few other celebrity Christians who are in the lime light.
How many of you know that Satan attacks different people with different levels of intensity? The luke-warm Christian who doesn't do anything to further the Kingdom of Heaven, Satan doesn't really attack or tempt that hard. Why? Because they pose hardly any threat to HIS kingdom....his dark, evil, twisted, perverted, earthly kingdom that is the antithesis to the Kingdom of God. On the other hand, wouldn't it be smart for Satan to tear down the major leaders of Christianity.....those who have a lot of influence over the church and effect the lives of many? Of course it would be and that is exactly what he does.
Call me crazy, but I don't think it is just a coincidence that Mel Gibson heads up a movie about Jesus Christ (The Passion of the Christ) and then shortly thereafter goes crazy and loses all credibility in the public eye. Is it a conspiracy??? No. Is it Satan throwing seven different kinds of smoke at him to ruin his credibility so that all people think Jesus followers are insane??? Yes. Yet we totally disregard the possibility of Satan being behind the tearing down of God's kingdom EVEN THOUGH GOD HIMSELF TELLS US THE EXACT OPPOSITE!
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in heavenly realms." - Ephesians 6:12
(The battle is not against fellow humans but against demons and satan)
So next time you wanna get mad at someone you look up to for "breaking your trust" or sinning against God or whatever......don't. ESPECIALLY if you haven't been praying protection over them every single day. Then, it is just as much your fault as it is theirs. It is our DUTY to pray for each other, specifically our leaders. If we don't, not a single one of us can stand against these powers of darkness that are trying SO desperately to destroy us. If you are a leader yourself, pray for those above you and don't be jealous of their high position. God would not have put them there if he or she had not earned it in His eyes. If you aren't a leader and want to be, don't be jealous of those above you either. Instead, step your game up and stay humble. "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." - Psalm 37:4. If you desire to lead, then you can lead, but don't be surprised if God makes you prove yourself worthy first. (See the parable of the talents in the Gospels.) If you don't want to lead, then don't. Most people are NOT called to be leaders, but ALL people are called to pray for leaders.
That's all I got, so....until next time....PEACE!
